There aren’t too many places that give you a feeling of being far away when you’re still within New York City limits. La Marina is a newly developed restaurant & lounge that recently opened on a neglected piece of waterfront property in Upper Manhattan. I made the drive all the way up the West Side Highway from downtown a few weekends ago with my in-laws for my husband’s birthday brunch. Although the staff was not yet serving food on any of their many outdoor patios, the roofed dining area was still beautiful. The view of the George Washington Bridge makes for great photographs and serves as a reminder that you’re only a short train ride away from the hustle and bustle of the city streets.
*Note: They were not yet serving a full menu but everything was extremely fresh and tasty. I recommend the mussels in the white wine sauce versus the tomato and basil sauce. We tried both and the white wine was definitely the crowd pleaser. Also, the Tres Leche dessert was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted…seriously!
